What Are Some of the Benefits of Membership?

You will belong to the liberal religious voice of our community. You will join hundreds of others who speak for social justice, freedom of thought, the worth and dignity of every human being, and environmental respect.

You will have the right to vote at the Church Annual Meeting each spring.

You'll receive regular church mailings - including our monthly newsletter, and a subscription to the UU World, the journal of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

We'll also make a name tag for you to wear during social hour.

When Can I Join Eliot Chapel?

Membership Enrollment is held the first Sunday of each month, in Childrens' Chapel.

What Are the Steps to Membership in Eliot Chapel?

  • Complete the Enrollment Forms (New Member Info, Talents & Interests and Pledge Card)
  • Sign the Membership Book.
  • When you sign our Membership Book, and offer your financial pledge, you are making a commitment to participate in the life, health, and vision of this historic Kirkwood congregation.

There are no "belief" requirements for membership - such as creeds or statements of faith. We invite you to attend either the "New U" class, or one of the other classes that focus on Unitarian Universalism. Consult the New U webpage or call us at (314) 821-0911, for current classes.

What Forms Must Be Completed Before I Join?

We need to have your forms completed before you arrive to sign the Membership Book. Take your time to complete them at home. If you have questions, don't hesitate to phone us.

  1. New Member Information - Please print clearly. This information becomes part of our database. Each individual (age 16 and over) who joins must complete her or his own form.

  2. Talents & Interests - Here is an opportunity to match your unique experiences, interests, and talents with some of the programs, committees, and activities at Eliot. Please indicate several areas of interest.

  3. The Pledge Card is an important component of joining Eliot Chapel- First, read the brochure How To Pledge, especially if the idea is unfamiliar to you. Family units may complete just one Pledge Card. If you have already submitted a pledge during our Annual Canvass, please indicate that information again on the enclosed Pledge Card, by entering your name(s), and writing "Already Pledged," along with the amount of your pledge. If you have questions regarding your financial commitment, please contact the Business Administrator or a minister.

When you have completed these forms, you will be ready to sign the Membership Book.
