"What is CASA?" Feb. 2008 (date, time, and location to be announced)
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of St. Louis County is a chapter of an international program of volunteers who investigate the cases of abused, neglected and abandoned children in the child welfare system and make recommendations to judges for children's long-term welfare. In essence, CASA volunteers speak up for these children and help them find, safe permanent homes. Volunteers are highly trained by CASA and come from a variety of backgrounds with a common bond to advocate for kids.
The Social Action Committee is happy to have Nickie Steinhoff, the Director of Advocacy Services of CASA, St. Louis County, speak at an Adult Education session in She will speak about the children, the beginnings of our St. Louis County program, and pass along information to anyone interested in volunteering for child advocacy and this very worthy cause. Amy Stark, one of the co-chairs of the Social Action Committee, has just begun her journey as a CASA volunteer and will also be there to answer questions.

Watch the newsletter for future programs.
