The Membership Committee (formerly the People Committee or GEMMS)

• Facilitates the greeting of visitors and newcomers to Eliot Chapel
• Works to foster a congregational welcoming atmosphere
• Helps inquirers become informed about our denomination and/or the opportunities for participation in Eliot's activities and services
• Assists those who wish to become members
• And attempts to draw in both new members and friends to satisfying participation in our congregational life.

Areas covered are

• Greeters/ushers
• Visitor's corner (staffing and literature)
• Name badges and board
• New U classes
• Assistance with joining Eliot Chapel and recognition of new members
• Informal mentoring of newcomers
• And consultative support on the formation of new groups at Eliot as the need arises.

A new member/new friend dinner takes place in the spring.
