There was great response from Eliot members in establishing a partnership between Eliot Chapel and Meacham Park. (Meacham Park is the area directly south of Eliot Chapel.) We focused on three projects for the 2004-2005 church year. This project is currently inactive.
- Meacham Park Workdays
This fall, there will be a continuation of the Saturday morning workdays in Meacham Park. The schedule is the first and third Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to noon. No skills are necessary, just a willingness to work. You can sign up by contacting Lee Streett.
- History Project
By interviewing long-time Meacham Park residents, we can preserve the unique history of this neighborhood. Each interview will be conducted by two people (one Eliot member and one Meacham Park resident) and will be videotaped. At the end of the project there will be a book and a documentary.
- Legal Team
A small group of Eliot lawyers are joining forces to do pro bono work. The mission of this team will be to assess the benefits that were promised to Meacham Park by the City of Kirkwood when much of the neighborhood was purchased to build the shopping center.
For more information, contact Ellen Adkins (fundraising projects), Lee Street (volunteer coordinator), Judy Highfill (video history) or Linda Polcyn (general).
