The Men's Advance is held every spring at Bergfried, Eliot Chapel's 600-acre site near Hermann, Missouri. Male members and friends of Eliot Chapel gather for a weekend of fellowship, fun, relaxing, spirituality and community. The sign up board usually appears in the hallway in April. Sign up there so the cook will be able to determine the size of the pig to order. Friday evening there's a campfire and camaraderie. Saturday dinner is oven baked pig. The cost is usually $15 for the event with no additional fees or charges for workshop participation. Those activities are kept secret as is all the other guy stuff. This is a camp out with primitive facilities so you need to bring your shelter, sleeping bag, easy chair, hat, cigars and beverages and maybe food (Burger King and a convenience store aren't too far away). See Bergfried for directions and a description of the location. In 2008 the Men's Advance is on May 2-4. For more information, contact Gene Hutchins at . |
