The purposes of the Outreach Committee are:
- to distribute funds allocated by the Board of Trustees each year
- to provide a venue for Eliot members to participate in outreach to the community at large.
The Outreach Committee usually polls the congregation for applications on behalf of charitable organizations to receive donations. Organizations in which Eliot members participate are generally given preference.
The Outreach Committee is convened every year by the Social Action Committee. It has at least seven members, but only three of them should be from the Social Action Committee. The committee usually meets only two or three times in a year. Each year the committee is begun anew and has considerable flexibility in setting up its guidelines for the year.
Outreach 2004
Members and friends of Eliot Chapel are encouraged to submit an application to the Outreach Committee on behalf of a charitable organization that you believe would benefit from such a donation.The Outreach Committee generally favors charitable organizations with which Eliot members are involved. We tend to donate to smaller organizations for which our contributions will be significant – previous grants have ranged from $100 to $400.
