Summer Services 2006

Summer services begin at 10:00 a.m.

  • June 19: Rev. Dr. Daniel Ó Connell - “Fat Tire Dads”
Our annual Father's Day look at dad's place in the universe.

  • June 25: Rich Heuermann - “Connection”
We are each unique individuals, but we function within the physical universe and interact with other individuals, with groups, and communities. This will be a reflection upon connection - with the cosmos, with the Earth, with other people - rooted in unity and the universal.

There will also be carpooling to the 9:30am service at GA. Contact Jan Chamberlin.

  • July 2: Gail Rock & Co. - “News from GA”

  • July 9: Michael Hennon - “The Most Difficult Part of Love”
Recent work as both a wedding officiant and grief counselor has given me some amazing moments when the power of love affects the lives of those involved. Join us this day for some talk, musing and reflection on what it means to live and love and deal with the loss of love in life.

  • July 16: Rev. Susan Heller

  • July 23: Judy Highfill - "A Week in Nirvana (with the IARF/IALRW)"
Unitarians started the first International Interfaith organization in the world. And 100+ years later, it's still going strong! Come learn a bit about this group's international interfaith work and hear some of the music shared by 350 folks from around the world.

  • July 30: Bob Coulter - “Chimps in Charge”
A few intelligently designed thoughts on the evolving borders of science and religion. Come and stem a few cells of opposition as we seek to balance dominion and stewardship. Folk music provided by Kathie Price and Rich Heuermann.

  • August 6: Lynn Murphy - "Loss and Grief"
We'll look at loss and trauma in our lives. Please bring a live flower to share.

  • August 13: Michael Getty - “Square Up - Revelation in the Unexpected”
We find revelation not just in unexpected places, but especially in unexpected places. Hear stories of shared truths that brought together people who would otherwise never have found their way to each other. Featuring live dances by the Gateway Squares.

  • August 20: Rev. Dr. Daniel Ó Connell - "Direct Experience"
Our first source is “direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life.”

  • August 27: Rev. Dr. Daniel Ó Connell - "Question Box"
Rev. Ó Connell did a "question box" sermon on last New Year's Day and people asked for a repeat. Here's how it works: write out any question you'd like him to address, and he'll reflect on it and incorporate that into the "sermon" part of the service this week. You can drop it off at the office or email it to .

  • September 3: Lynn Murphy - "Potpourri for Families"
Our last summer service wil explore our first and seventh Unitarian principles, looking at love, pathways, and penguins. Nancy Collis and friends will serenade us with their pan pipes.
