Summer Services 2007
Summer services begin at 10:00 a.m.
- June 17 - Father's Day - A Kaleidoscopic View presented by Lynn Murphy & the Music Committee.
Come celebrate Father's Day in our special service. We have something for the kids and adults to enjoy. Our presentation will be a kaleidoscope of reflections and music to honor fathers.
- June 24 - The Joy of Change presented by Sharon McCarron.
In this quick-paced society, how do we deal with the multiple changes that come at lightening speed? Some people display an amazing resilience in the way they face life's challenges. You can be one of those people, too.
- July 1 - Reflections on Bergfried presented by Kate Magrath.
- July 8 - Eight Foxes and a Queen Ziggy Hound presented by Joyce Pearl Jones.
We will explore the connection between personal mythology and a spiritual practice called Walking-in-Garden meditation. Herein comes a story of how we find hope, courage and UU friendships on a journey through difficult times
- July 15 - Come Celebrate presented by Lynn Murphy.
You are invited to come to Eliot in the spirit of celebration. We will focus on: the joy of being single, being spiritual, and being Unitarian. Bring singing voices and joyful hearts. Come celebrate and start your day off with a spring in your spirit!
- July 22 - Embracing Jesus presented by Gail Rock.
What does it really mean to be a Unitarian Universalist? Are we Christian? How does Christianity fit in our open, creedless faith? Do we throw the baby out with the bath water?
- July 29 - It's not Easy Being Green presented by Bob Coulter.
Eminent social critic Kermit the Frog captured one of the challenges of modern life in five memorable words. Together we'll explore how Unitarian principles can help us to be part of the web of life without reducing ourselves to unbleached cotton sackcloth and nontoxic ashes.
- August 5 - Connections II presented by Rich Heuermann
A continued reflection on connections - with the cosmos, with the Earth, with other people. Where did we ultimately come from - and how does that relate to the unity and universality that binds us in community?
- August 12 - "Buddha and Jesus: A Dialog" presented by Sue and Tom Videen.
(This is a change. Michael Getty is unable to lead the service as planned.)
- August 19 - Five Smooth Stones presented by Rev. Dr. Daniel ÓConnell.
- August 26 - Question Box presented by Rev. Dr. Daniel ÓConnell.
Here's how it works: write out any question you'd like him to address, and he'll reflect on it and incorporate that into the "sermon" part of the service this week. You can drop it off in advance at the office or at the Aug. 19 service.
- September 2 - Songs of Peace presented by Margie Maclin & the Music Committee.
This service is all about music - music that expresses our yearning for a world without war. Songs you know, songs you may not have heard, and songs you just can't stop yourself from singing. Please come join us and add your voice!
