Shared Plate: East Side Heart & Home Family Center

Every Sunday, Eliot Chapel shares half of the offertory with an organization in the community whose work reflects our shared values. This is one way that we care for our community and our neighbors.

In May, we will share our offerings with East Side Heart & Home Family Center. Founded in 1993, the mission of East Side Heart & Home Family Center is to invite individuals from varied backgrounds to be catalysts for change by providing them with opportunities to work side-by-side with each other on programs and projects that cultivate positive changes in their lives and communities. Their Family program reaches all sectors of the East St. Louis community with summer camp for kids, programs for seniors and young mothers and ongoing support as an anchor for the community. Their Housing program has transformed a neighborhood with the construction of 25 affordable homes with volunteer labor in a neighborhood now called Resurrection Park. They strive to engage community on both sides of the Mississippi River to become agents of social change in lives and their communities. Learn more at familycenterestl.org
