Hi. I’m Scott Stewart (he/him/his). I’ve been overjoyed to serve as Eliot’s Director of Religious Education (DRE) since December 2008.  Prior to my time at Eliot, I studied sociology and comparative religion at Missouri State University (Go Bears!) and became a certified high school educator (social studies) in the spring of 2008 following student teaching at Webster Groves High School. 

My wife, Jennifer, and I have been together 27+ years after meeting at Missouri State in 1998.  When we’re not working, we travel as much as possible and particularly enjoy visiting southern California, New York City, national parks, and Lake Superior along the Minnesota North Shore. We are proud “cat parents” and enjoy spending time and traveling with our niece.

I enjoy planning and coordinating curricula for children’s and youth classes, facilitating youth group activities, and am particularly passionate about providing comprehensive, inclusive sexuality education for children and youth through the Our Whole Lives (OWL) program. I also handle the program administration, publicity, and volunteer coordination for 50+ volunteer leaders each year. Prior to 2020, I served as staff, and later as the Dean, of the UU Youth Midwest Leadership School (2014-2019) , as a Youth Conference (CON) consultant for the MidAmerica Region, sponsored youth at the UU General Assembly (2015-2018), and attended the UU United Nations Spring Seminar in New York City with two Eliot youth in 2019.
