Bergfried Fall Family Campout, October 11–13

Get ready for our traditional hiking adventures, shared meals in the pavilion, a bonfire, and singing and story-telling around the fire pit, plus a special hike to the cypress swamp on the north side!

And this year, we have some new opportunities on the water - a visit to the USS Aries, the hydrofoil that is docked right across from Bergfried, and an afternoon of boating on the Gasconade! There is an excellent boat ramp just across the river where we can put in kayaks and other watercraft. The river is slow-moving at that point, and we can go upstream a half mile to view the quarry, then downstream to the railroad trestle (where Lewis and Clark came ashore for water) and view the USS Aries Hydrofoil, that is docked right across the river. Floatation devices are required for all participants!

Touring the USS Aries/The Hydrofoil Museum, and getting out in our small crafts on the water will require some advance planning, so let us know ahead of time if you're interested in either or both of these activities! These are most likely to take place on Saturday afternoon.

Dick Haynes will give us a sermon for our Sunday service - 11:00 am on October 13.

Email bergfriedinfo@eliotchapel.org to reserve space in the cottage or in the bunkhouses and to get on the mailing list for the event.
