The Living Tradition Fund

Our offering this Sunday will be dedicated to the Living Tradition Fund. The 1988 General Assembly established the Living Tradition Fund and requested that "Ordination and Installation Services held in member societies include an offering" to the fund. Over the years, that request has become a tradition among UUs.


The Living Tradition Fund provides three types of support for ministry:


  • need-based scholarships for theological students who are in Aspirant or Candidate Status in the UUA Credentialing Program;
  • new minister assistance to reduce the burden of high educational debt and repayment;
  • emergency assistance grants to ministers, religious professionals, other congregational staff, retired ministers and their loved ones.


The generosity of individuals, congregations and districts helps to strengthen and support our professional ministry by keeping this important resource available.

  • By Mail: Please write “Living Tradition" in the memo line of your check and mail it to Eliot Unitarian Chapel, 100 South Taylor Ave., Kirkwood, MO 63122. Please put your check in the mail by November 1 so that we may forward gifts to the Living Tradition Fund.
  • By Text: Text "Eliot SharedPlate $(enter amount)" to 73256. A link in the reply text will take you to our secure database webpage where you can complete your transaction. Please note, "SharedPlate" must be entered as one word to reach that preferred option.
