Every Sunday, Eliot Chapel shares half of the offertory with an organization in the community whose work reflects our shared values. This is one way that we care for our community and our neighbors.
In August, Eliot Chapel will share its bounty with CAPAS. UUSC’s Community Accompaniment Program with Asylum-Seekers (CAPAS) supports communities of faith as they host and accompany individuals and families seeking safety through the process of obtaining legal asylum in the United States. The host congregations provide support for housing, legal representation, medical care, transportation, and more to asylum-seekers for one to two years. CAPAS staff work closely with the congregation throughout the process and provide ongoing support and connections to other congregations doing similar work.
